The midfielder Set-pieces from corners and set-plays were dangerous. Enjoyed freedom to drift down the left flank but was in an offside position when the ball arrived in front of goal. Given a deserved rest after an hour. Six
The star midfielder Played in an advanced position out wide while also contributed with the hard yards. Displayed flashes of quality and scuffed a shot wide. Replaced late on for a teammate, his competition, after being booked. Seven
The winger Was presented with England’s clearest opportunity before halftime, his effort smartly stopped from the opposing goalkeeper. As Quansah hanging back, it fell to him to provide width on the right yet his deliveries from the touchline were hit and miss. Taken off for the final quarter-hour. 6
The captain The decisive figure scoring 77th and 78th goals at international level. The opener a trademark poacher’s finish and the second a classy finish with his head having drifted away off his defender. At 32, his form is unwavering and the side have every chance in the upcoming tournament when he's in the team. Eight
